FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A big water leak caused problems for the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. The leak was discovered early Thursday and the source was located by nightfall. A water main that runs next to the old jail building had burst. To fix it, water had to be shutoff to the jail building which meant nearly 400 inmates had to be provided with bottled water and escorted out to use the bathroom.

Tony Botti with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said, "We have different access points where we can take inmates. The main jail is just across the street so correctional officers could simply walk them over if they have to use the restroom."

That was the same situation county employees in the hall of records were in. While most of the other county offices were closed, Fresno County Assessor-Recorder Paul Dictos said the recording office had to stay open under state law.

Dictos told his staff, "It's an inconvenience but they can use the plaza bathroom which is across the street. I said don't use the bushes, you can't use the bushes."

Fortunately the leak was fixed and the water was back on before anybody had to use the bushes.
