Officials are investigating a deadly crash in Merced

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Just after 2:30 Thursday morning, a driver lost control and hit a tree on Parsons Avenue and North Bear Creek Drive.

The woman died at the scene. It's not yet known why she lost control. Her name has not yet been released.

The car has since been removed from the scene and should not impact the morning commute in that area.
