Selma man arrested on child porn, 'sextortion' charges

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Selma man was arrested on Friday for possession of child pornography and "sextortion" charges.

Police say 26-year-old Jose Montes was communicating with a 13-year-old boy with a mobile application called Kik. Kik is based on a username, not a phone number, and allows users to exchange text, photos and videos.

The investigation revealed the teenager thought he was communicating with a young girl, and only later learned it was an adult male. Police say Montes then began to threaten the victim and extorted additional information.

Montes was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
