CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating a series of car break-ins at a popular workout spot in Clovis.
Nicole Thompson and her husband often work out on the bleachers at Buchanan High School's stadium. Several days ago, Thompson wrapped up a run before heading to the parking lot where she found a smashed-in car window.
"It was a gut-wrenching feeling because I realized what happened as soon as I got just a couple of feet from my car," said Thompson.
Thompson told Action News the thief or thieves stole hundreds of dollars worth of her belongings.
"It was a Michael Kors bag, a Michael Kors wallet, a Louis Vuitton clutch, my Ray Bans. I had just put in a whole packet of bills the night before, and I felt like I gave them a lot of information that I didn't need to," added Thompson.
During the summer, the stadium is often sold out for sports meets and celebrations like July 4th. Clovis police say large crowds are prime places for thieves to target, and since June, officers have gone to 15 car break-in calls.
"Keep in mind people are looking out there and they will take things," said Clovis police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee.
Police are reminding people to hide anything expensive, and that's something regulars who come here say they'll pay more attention to in the future.
