Tax season is here and the United Way is helping Valley residents with filing
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The end of January means the beginning of tax season. This year non-profit United Way Fresno and Madera Counties wants to relieve some of your filing stress.
Lindsay Callahan, President, and CEO of United Way says they help thousands of people through their free tax prep program. She says this year you will not have to worry about the tax reform bill.
"It will make a difference for next tax return, everything will be pretty much the same this year," Callahan said.
With the exception of the earned income tax credit, which helps those with limited income by reducing the amount of federal taxes they owe.
If you make the state minimum of $22,300 you could qualify. A change benefiting more than a million people.
There are some requirements to take advantage of United Ways free services.
You can start filing at one of United Ways eight locations on Saturday, January 3.
In the meantime, if you have any tax questions you can dial 211. The deadline to file is April 17th. For more information on when and where you can file for free check out the info below.
