Delivery goes wrong with UPS driver pinned between cars
A neighbor has helped many drivers navigate Toku Poyah Road in front of his house in North Fork, but this Monday his rescue didn't go according to plan.

OAKHURST, Calif. (KFSN) -- A UPS driver is recovering Monday after being crushed between two vehicles.

It happened while a nearby family was trying to pull his truck out of a ditch. "I feel so badly for him, because you know he was hurting," neighbor Jerry Sconce said after witnessing the scene.

Sconce helped many drivers navigate Toku Poyah Road in front of his house, but this Monday his rescue didn't go according to plan. "He came in here, they always drive in," he explained.

The UPS driver knocked on his door around 2 p.m., asking for help after getting stuck while backing down a steep hill.

The road is notorious for its curves and Jerry said he was more than happy to help. "We got him out," Sconce said." I backed up a little bit to loosen the chain so he could take it off."

At first, things went well, Jerry said he was able to pull the truck out with his jeep. He then put his car in reverse, and that's when things went south. "It popped," he said. "It came off and jumped backwards. And I slammed on the brakes but it was too late, it caught him."

First responders say the driver was pinned between the two cars and suffered injuries to his head and shoulder. He was transported to the fire department and then airlifted to a hospital. "I'm so sorry," he said. "He's just a nice young man delivering packages for goodness sakes."

Emergency workers say the driver is expected to be okay. Jerry says he feels terrible for what happened. And he hopes the driver knows his kind gesture was never meant to end with this accident.
