From the Emerald Isle to our supermarket aisles, everywhere you look, everybody's getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with traditional favorites!

This week alone there'll be more corned beef sold than at any other time of year -- in quite a few forms. Look for:

Raw corned beef that we cook ourselves - some with the pickling spices already in the pickling brine and some with the spices in a separate bag that we can add to our corned beef as we boil it, if we want - and they both come in the traditional brisket cut as well as the leaner round cut.

Even easier, both of those cuts come pre-cooked, also - it's a few cents more, but with no shrinkage. And with the time we save, they might be worth their weight in our pot of gold.

Of course, no St. Patty's Day corned beef would be complete without the crunch and taste of cabbage. And whether we choose a whole head or a pre-shredded package, they'll surely be on sale - as will potatoes! They're certainly a traditional go-along super-buy right now!

Team all of those with hot corned and, if you want, raise a glass of green beer to toast the holiday! And another reason for all the good buys? The markets are using them as loss leaders, so take advantage of that green, too. And what's at the end of your rainbow? Ay...a pot of gold filled...

Corned beef for St. Patrick's Day is surely a classic Irish dish! Mr. Food shares corned beef recipe tips for a dish that you'll enjoy as much as finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...well, maybe almost as much!
