FRESNO, Calif.

This year, growers could only package 67 and 70-percent of their crop as fresh fruit. Last year, about 84-percent of the crop was fresh fruit.

California Citrus Mutual says growers' returns depend on whether they will able to send a good percentage of oranges to the export market.

California almond orchards are changing.

Growers are now planting self-pollinating trees. The trees eliminate the need for other almond varieties to help with pollination. There is also less reliance on bees.

Some growers believe traditional pollination is also needed to maximize production .
