Witnesses said the pilot did what he could to keep the failing aircraft away from homes. "He maneuvered over further north because he knew it was a cornfield," said witness Charlie Bollter, "and he did a good job, I wouldn't be here now if he hit my building"
There is no word yet on what caused the accident. The helicopter belonged to Air Angels, an emergency medical transport service.
