Fresno Unified students honor Cesar Chavez

FRESNO, Calif. Today's program was held at the Saroyan Theater in downtown Fresno and featured performances by student groups.

Nine students were also awarded for their part in a district-wide Cesar Chavez Essay Contest.

School District Superintendent, Michael Hanson then encouraged students to think about how they can help change the world. "Think of how you are going to make your mark in the following way: frankly, think as big as you possibly can. Think as big as you possibly can and immediately begin acting small."

The program was followed by an eight-block march from the theater to the Chavez Adult Center, and a garlanding ceremony at the Cesar Chavez bust.
