Met Lawsuit Settled, Ansel Adams Prints Returned

FRESNO, Calif.

An attorney for the Adams family tells Action News -- the Met will return six Ansel Adams photographs that were not intended to be sold to private collectors.

Adams' son and his wife gave the prints to the Met in 1983. But according to the lawsuit, they never gave permission for the prints to be sold.

In exchange for the return of the prints, Adams and his wife will give the museum other prints of equal value, which will be auctioned by the museum to raise money to pay its creditors.

The Fresno Met closed in January after several years of financial losses.
