Yellow fever mosquito found in Clovis

FRESNO, Calif.

The mosquito abatement district recently found this more aggressive mosquito in the city of Madera. Now, several mosquitoes have been collected in Clovis.

A neighborhood near the area of Shaw Avenue and Temperance Avenue will be targeted for extensive mosquito control.

Officials will conduct door to door inspections in this area as well as nearby neighborhoods in an attempt to prevent the spread of this mosquito.

This mosquito is not native to California and it's an efficient transmitter of dengue, yellow fever, and several viruses that cause encephalitis.

It may be active around dusk and dawn but bites most often during the day and often bites indoors.
