FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was arrested after Fresno police say he led them on a high-speed chase early Saturday morning.

Police say Zachary Kinberger was under the influence of marijuana and prescription drugs when he sped away from them during a traffic stop in Central Fresno. Officers called off the pursuit at Van Ness Avenue and Highway 180 because of safety concerns.

But the department's helicopter crew soon spotted him going nearly 100 mph and running red lights. The chase came to an end at the University Square Hotel near Cedar and Shaw avenues in Northeast Fresno. Police say Kinberger jumped out of his car and ran through the property before he was caught outside his grandmother's hotel room.

Kinberger was later booked into the Fresno County Jail. He is being charged with driving under the influence and violating his parole.
