Fresno State Bulldogs getting ready to kick off first home game of the season
The countdown is on to Fresno State's home opener at Bulldog Stadium Saturday against Sacramento State.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The countdown is on to Fresno State's home opener at Bulldog Stadium Saturday against Sacramento State. Crews were busy Tuesday putting the finishing touches on a number of projects.

"Cleaning the stadium, fixing the banners, putting the sound system up. So all the things we want to get done today and tomorrow. So on Saturday we just have to worry about football," said Paul Ladwig, Associate Athletic Director.

Ladwig said fans will definitely hear a difference with a new sound system that will pump up the crowd and the team. When fans walk in from tailgating they will notice new fencing and more open space between Bulldog Stadium and Beiden Field. Head coach Tim Deruyter got a sneak peek of the new banners that show Bulldog pride.

"I got an old man workout where I walk around the outside of the stadium where I do the stadium steps, and to see those, you know, those wrap around the stadium. I think it makes a great clean look," said Deruyter.

Each home game this season will have a theme and the team will wear a different color jersey. This Saturday is Spirit Fest with the Bulldogs wearing navy blue on the playing field.

"We've seen that our fans enjoyed, you know, knowing what the color combinations are going to be. The team will always tell our fans the week of the game what the color combination is going to be," said Ladwig.

Fresno State has a variety of ticket prices and packages available for Saturday night's game. Four thousand group tickets have been sold already. One fan who picked up his season tickets is ready to support the bulldogs after a rough start to the season at Nebraska.

"They looked a little confused Saturday, but maybe they will snap out of it. They are playing Sacramento State they should win that game," said Al Denise, season ticket holder.

Fresno State officials said there's still plenty of tickets available for Saturday night's game-- kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
