1 dead, 1 injured after shooting at Southeast Fresno party
Fresno police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured. Family members have identified the victim who was killed as Andrew Tristan.

Detectives say the gunfire broke out during a large party on Florence Avenue near Whitney Avenue in Southeast around 3 a.m. Sunday. The first officers to arrive found one of the victims at the scene. Paramedics rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center, but he died from his injuries. A second victim also showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound and is now recovering.

Authorities say they're still piecing together exactly what happened. "What we do know is that there were a lot of people at the location, there was a lot of alcohol involved and drinking, there were gang members that may have been at the location, and you combine those elements together and that generally ends up in some sort of a problem," said Sgt. Dave Madrigal of the Fresno Police Department.

Police say it's not clear if either victim had gang ties. Officers did recover one weapon, but are still examining it. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
