MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The deadly crash happened around 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning on Avenue 9 and Road 23 in Madera County.

Authorities said farm workers and pesticide tractor spray rigs had gathered in the area. The spray rigs were on both sides of Avenue 9 with bright lights on them to illuminate the work area.

Authorities said 24-year-old Leonel Lopez was driving westbound on Avenue 9 and moved to the middle of the road to avoid the spray rigs. They said because of the lights on the spray rigs, the driver could not see farm workers who were in the roadway.

One person was killed, and two were injured as the driver drove through the area. The man killed has been identified as 30-year-old Adrian Ayon Guzman of Madera.

The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with authorities. Investigators said the driver was questioned and released. They said he will likely not face any charges.
