FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in Central Fresno Sunday afternoon. It happened near Marks and Dakota avenues shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Fresno police officers say a 40-year-old man was involved in a disturbance with other men in a parking lot. One of them pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in his hip. He made it back to his apartment to get help and is expected to recover.

Some witnesses gave a description of the gunman.

"The suspect is described as a black male adult, mid-20s, with long dreadlocks and last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and blue Levis," said Sgt. Clayton Smith with the Fresno Police Department.

Police say the relationship between the suspect and the victim isn't clear yet but it appears they at least knew each other.
