Tulare County Tax Auction

Tax Auction in Visalia Most of the properties are vacant lots, like this one in Visalia. The County Tax Collector says owners of the lots haven't paid their property taxes for the last six years.

Wednesday was the last day for those people to pay the back taxes. Some starting bids for the parcels are as low as 11-hundred dollars. The liens and cost of sale are included in the bidding price.

Rita Woodard, Tulare Co. Tax Collector: "People are looking for a bargain, to buy a piece of California property for less than what they could get on the open market."

The Tulare County Tax Auction starts at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Visalia Convention Center.
