Attempted Fresno Kidnapping Ends in Car Crash

FRESNO, Calif. It happened around 8:30 Monday morning at Clinton and Chestnut in East Central Fresno.

Fresno Police said the man kidnapped his ex-wife and child this morning and forced them into his car.

They were driving down Clinton Avenue when the parolee and his ex-wife started fighting. Police said the man then threatened to hurt his family.

The ex-wife was able to force the vehicle off the road fearing for her own safety and the safety of the child. At that point that's when officers arrived and we were able to take the suspect into custody without incident," said John Papalio with the Fresno Police Department.

The parolee had to get a neck brace and be loaded onto an ambulance. The ex-wife and child suffered minor injuries. They are expected to be okay.

The parolee, Robert G. Hernandez, now faces charges of assault and attempted kidnapping.
