Encouraging Valley Elementary Students to Pursue Higher Education

Sanger, California This project at Jackson Elementary School in Sanger is unique because 5th grade students are being taught by a professor and students from Reedley College. It's part of Reedley's Stem Ambassadors Outreach Program.

College students and instructors visit small communities where fewer students attend college. Teachers said the program reinforces efforts to get students excited about their future.

A federal grant funds the Stem Ambassadors Program -- the goal is to produce more science and technology professionals for a more competitive economy.
