FRESNO, Calif. Federal Judge Oliver Wanger decided the Delta pumps that supply water to the Westlands Water District can stay on for an additional three weeks until June 15th.

The water users sued to block a federal ruling that limited pumping from the Delta to protect salmon and steelhead fish.

Judge Wanger decided the impact to the endangered fish did not outweigh the needs of farmers.

"I am thrilled at this ruling. This ruling has the potential of saving the people on the West side of the San Joaquin Valley and other parts of California 200,000 acre feet of water and to put 70,000 acres of land back into production and people back to work," said Tom Birmingham with the Westlands Water District.

Environmentalists say they are disappointed with the ruling and are weighing legal options.

Judge Wanger could also soon rule on water restrictions for the Delta smelt.

Television commercials promoting California tourism and agricultural products must be filmed inside the state under a bill passed by the assembly.

Democratic Assemblyman Ted Lieu introduced the legislation after the California Milk Advisory Board filmed part of a "happy California cows" campaign in New Zealand.

Supporters say the business should be kept in the state to help employ Californians, while opponents say the measure encourages over-regulation.
