Ellis looks to capitalize on opportunity

FRESNO, Calif.

"It's always competition," said Ellis. "Competition fuels greatness. So when everyone's competing you try your hardest and give it all you got."

And while Ellis will get the first chance to crack the Aggie defense, both Michael Harris and Clovis East alum Tracey Slocum are chomping at the bit right behind, looking to capitalize on any opportunity given.

"I feel pretty good," said Slocum. "I'm just approaching practice like I'm going to get a lot of playing time. And hopefully my performance in practice leads to playing time."

The man handing off the ball says that even with Rouse's injury, he doesn't feel any more pressure to throw any more passes than usual. Ryan Colburn says running the ball effectively will be a key to winning on the road.

"I had great confidence in those other guys before this game started," said Colburn, "so as long as those guys continue to approach the game like they have to be ready on any given play we should be fine."
