California vegetables in demand as prices increase

Bad weather in other parts of the country is boosting demand for vegetables grown here in California.

Marketers say wholesale prices for iceberg lettuce are about double what they were last year. Market watchers say prices have also gone up for broccoli, cauliflower and spinach.

Rain in the east and southeast has slowed vegetable production in those areas. Now buyers are looking to buy California crops to supplement supplies.
