A new study suggests childhood cancer rates are higher in the Northeast than anywhere else in the nation. The pediatric cancer rate in the northeast is 179 cases per million children, compared to the South, which has the lowest with 159 cases per million children.

Researchers say the differences exist because cases in the South get under-reported while the Northeast generally has better access to cancer centers.
