Police were called to Denver Way near Toughborough just before ten last Saturday night, after people in the area heard several gunshots.
When officers got to the scene, they found a blood trail leading to the victim, who was bleeding from the head.
They said he was conscious and breathing, and he was eventually flown to a Modesto hospital for treatment.
Police say they interviewed a few witnesses to the shooting, but they haven't been able to find the suspect.
