Fresno Bomb Squad Called to the Parks Apartment Complex

FRESNO, Calif. A maintenance worker at the Parks Apartment complex on Fruit near Ashlan says he discovered what he thought was a bomb. South bound traffic was shut down on Fruit Avenue while the Fresno Police Bomb Squad examined the device.

The children were kept inside, and nearby residents were evacuated. A military advisor was also called in for a second opinion.

Lt. Phil Cooley with the Fresno Police Department said, "They wanna come in, look at it and make sure everything is safe and it can be secured."

The police department says the device did turn out to be a military ordinance, but it was no longer explosive.
