Police say the 32-year-old Cynthia Valera was not in a crosswalk when this S.U.V. hit her. Valero suffered major injuries to her head, and was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital.
Traffic was diverted around the area for several hours Wednesday night while police investigated.
