4.6 earthquake strikes near Santa Barbara

The USGS is reporting a 4.6 earthquake struck at 7:38 a.m. about 12 miles west of Santa Barbara, California.

The earthquake was centered just off shore 3 miles west of Isla Vista. There are no reports of damage or injuries and officials say there is no danger of a tsunami.

The USGS reports that the earthquake was felt as far away as Bakersfield as well as across the Central Coast and the Los Angeles area.
