The Dance Studio of Fresno recognized by State of California

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Assembly Member Jim Patterson presented the Elite Dance Team with a state proclamation -- recognizing them for winning Studio of the Year.

Patterson said the studio's accomplishment is a great example of hard work, discipline, team work and also celebrates Central Valley talent that is recognized nationwide. "One of the great things we get to do when we're in the California Legislature is recognize wonderful achievements in our hometowns. This is one of the most significant achievements in California."

"Unbelievable. I've been in business since 1982 and I have to say that generations of students that have come through here are also congratulating us. They of course are the ones -- you know they set the path, for what we're doing now but we've never had this kind of recognition before and so it really feels good," said Sue Sampson-Dalena, Dance Studio of Fresno owner and artistic director.

The Dance Studio of Fresno demonstrated proficiency in five different dance disciplines, in two age groups -- 12 and under and 13 and up. They beat out 175 other schools and studios from across the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
