Elderly Fresno man killed after being run over by own car

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno man has died after he was run over by his own vehicle.

It happened Thursday morning in southeast Fresno. When officers arrived, they found the 79-year-old man lying on the ground.

Family members say he had been working in the driveway on his 1970's Chevy truck.

When he started the vehicle from the engine compartment it began to move forward, running over the man and dragging him 30 feet before the truck collided into a backyard fence.

His wife heard him screaming and called 911, but by the time first responders arrived he was unconscious.

The man died at the hospital.
