FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has picked a beautiful weekend to introduce visitors to its newest residents.

Four slender-tailed meerkats are now out on display.

The arrived at the zoo back in December, and after spending time in quarantine, to ensure they're healthy, they're now ready to get out and enjoy their new home at zoo. There are two male and two female.

"The girls came together and the boys come together, and, in fact, our girls are mother and daughter with Peru being the mom at 13 and her daughter Tezza being 8," zoo keeper Amanda Alamar explained.

Slender-tailed meerkats are native to southern Africa.
