Happy Fresno Grizzlies National Champions Day!

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno City Council proclaimed today as "Fresno Grizzlies National Champions Day." The triple-a team won the National Championship in Texas on Tuesday.

Team employees, mascot Parker, and fans were on hand for the special proclamation.

The council also recognized general manager Derek Franks for his work and gave him his own day. "To be here today is the ultimate way to celebrate year one with the Houston Astros and its really surreal."

The team says it's great to see their hard work pay off.

After the proclamation, the city also raised the "Growlifornia" flag over city hall.

National championship shirts will be on sale next week.
