FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A familiar face was honored as a recipient of the 2016 Women Inspiring Girls award.

And while accepting the award, Action News anchor Margot Kim shared her wish for future generations. "My hope is that every young person here has the same kind of support and encouragement to fulfill their dreams as well," Kim said.

I was so proud to accept this honor from the Girl Scouts Central California south council. Other honorees include Samantha Brown, regional director of Lifesteps and Yammilette Rodriguez, senior director of the Youth Leadership Institute. The recipients were treated to a luncheon with family, friends and co-workers at Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater in Fresno's Tower District.

For the past 7 years, the council has chosen women in the valley who exemplify the mission of Girl Scouts of being women of courage, confidence, character and service. The luncheon also raises funds that help girls in under-served areas of the community, become girl scouts.
