App used to locate burglary, car theft suspects

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police arrested three burglary and car theft suspects after a chase.

Fresno Police said three suspects broke into a home near Belmont and Clovis Avenue while the family was asleep and stole several items, and took the car keys for two vehicles. The suspects then stole the two vehicles, and left the area.

During the investigation, police learned that the victim could track one of the vehicles with a cell phone app. The officers were able to alert other officers of the location of the stolen vehicle.

Officers found the stolen vehicle at Cedar and McKinley, but the suspects refused to pull over. After chasing the vehicle to the a neighborhood near Cedar and Ventura, police were able to use a PIT maneuver to stop the suspect.

Two passengers, 18-year-old Michael Garcia and 21-year-old Christopher Hicks were arrested. The 17-year-old driver ran from the scene, but was later found by Police K9.

Police said all the stolen property was returned to the victim.
