Judge orders arrest record of Merced County DA's son 'sealed and destroyed'

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A judge has approved a motion to seal and destroy the arrest records for the son of Merced County's top prosecutor. Ethan Morse is the son of the Merced County District Attorney, Larry Morse. He was arrested on murder charges in July of last year. Detectives accused him of being the getaway driver when 18-year-old Bernabed Hernandez Canela was shot to death at a house party near Atwater.

But in November, a judge ruled that Morse did not play a role in the homicide, and he was released from jail.

Morse's defense attorney filed a motion last month to have his arrest record destroyed on the grounds that he is "factually innocent." A hearing took place on Wednesday, and the request was approved with no objections from the State Attorney General's office.
