Officials looking for owner of dog rescued from canal in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An effort is now underway to track down the owner of a dog rescued from a Fresno canal.

On Sunday, firefighters from Fresno's Engine 5 crew spotted a dog stranded in a canal near Abby and Olive. They said the dog was exhausted from trying to stay afloat in about four feet of water and had trouble climbing out.

Firefighters used a ladder to bring the animal to safety.
