Body found near canal in Winton; Police investigate as homicide

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Merced County Sheriff's Office are investigating a homicide after a man's body was found in the area of Cressy Way and Mercedes Avenue in Winton.

Deputies were canvassing the scene, and deployed their drone during the investigation.

They say someone who was driving along the canal bank spotted the body, and the call came in a little after noon Wednesday.

Investigators have not yet released the victim's age or identity.
