FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are trying to track down the two young men they say are responsible.
The crime happened Sunday afternoon on Kaviland and Holloway.
The attack came at the end of the day right before the sun went down. The vendor had a pocket full of money. Police say the suspects posed as customers before the robbery.
A neighbor's surveillance camera shows the suspects walking down the street. It happened Sunday, November 19th, the date on the camera is off by a month. The video shows a brief confrontation and then scuffling and punches.
Fresno Police Departments Lt. Mark Hudson said, "They flagged him down like they wanted to buy some food from him that's when he stopped- that's when they got into a fight with him."
The sudden beating went on for a short time with each suspect taking turns striking the victim. He was hit over the head with a semiautomatic pistol and left bleeding and hurt while the robbers ran away.
Once the victim was disoriented- they managed to grab his money.
"The other black male adult suspect reached into his pocket and took out we think about 120 dollars in cash," said Lt. Hudson.
The victim's food cart was tipped over. His shirt was left bloody his head was cut and he received a mild concussion. Police think the suspects targeted the vendor because it was nearing the end of the day.
"Probably thinking he had some money from the sales he made. That's when he robbed them, struck him over the head with that gun," said Hudson.
Detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood looking for any witnesses who may be able to identify the suspects. Right now they do not know if they live in the area.
Neighbors said the robbery has stunned them. The vendor is well known in the area. Many said he told them he will not be selling food anymore in their neighborhood.
