FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno firefighter is recovering after he got something in his eye while fighting a fire in Southeast Fresno.
Neighbors reported the flames shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday on Maple Avenue near Florence Avenue. Investigators say the home was abandoned and had been boarded up for months. They also say they're being cautious when putting firefighters on the roofs of burning structures after Captain Pete Dern was injured.
The firefighter hurt in this most recent fire hasn't been identified, but we're told he was treated at a local hospital.
