FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno man accused of beating his girlfriend to death in their mobile home was found guilty of the crime on Friday.

Michelle Jimenez's lifeless body was discovered back in September 2012.

Gabriel Rosiles couldn't contain his disappointment after hearing the verdict by 12 jurors that found him guilty of the murder of his 30-year-old live-in girlfriend. The jury also found him guilty of corporal injury and a domestic violence charge.

"We're happy that the jury was able to see the truth through all the different testimony that came out, and we appreciate the attention they gave the case," said prosecutor William Terrence.

The trial lasted a month, with varying testimony from the victim's family members and friends to Rosiles' mother and brothers, who came to the scene right after the crime.

Prosecutors were able to bring in evidence of Rosiles' history of domestic violence, including testimony from one of his exes. She attended the verdict reading with her father, who said they are elated by the guilty verdict.

"We're very thankful that it didn't happen to her and we're horribly saddened for the family that it did happen to, so glad she was able to get out of that relationship," said Victor Mangione.

Despite fleeing the scene of the crime, showering and hiding out at his mother's house down the street, Rosiles has always denied his involvement in the crime. His attorney says they believed the killing was in retaliation to a murder committed by the victim's brother and father a month before at the same trailer. Investigators say the two crimes are not related.

"There's a lot of unanswered questions, and I still think that Gabriel did not commit this heinous crime," said defense attorney H. Ty Kharazi.

Rosiles was a parolee at the time of the crime. He faces 51 years to life in prison when he's sentenced next month.
